| Presumed Asbestos Software Management
System
Croydon College
PVsurveys have been working with Croydon College for a number of years, having initially been invited to carry out a full Type 2 Survey of the campus site in College Road, Croydon. The initial survey was carried out over several weekends due to the busy activities in the college and upon completion our reports were uploaded to our software system and installed at the college.
Working closely with the college Health & Safety team and the maintenance departments, the software has become an integral part of their process to ensure awareness and safety when working in areas known to have Asbestos components.
More recently, the college has started an ambitious expansion program and specific Type 3 intrusive surveys were required prior to works commencing. On each occasion the surveys were completed and uploaded to the software system to ensure compliance with all areas of the legislation and building control requirements. Where components needed to be removed, PVsurveys acted as consultants to the college. Using our intimate knowledge of the college we were responsible for issuing and collating quotations from a number of contractors, managing dates, access and terms of the projects with a final report handed to the college upon completion.
Annual re-inspections have been completed and noted in the software, providing a full and current register - an integral part of the general Asbestos Management Plan.
Coca Cola Enterprises
Having completed the Type 2 surveys at the
Kent plant, Coca Cola embarked on a program of removal of
a number of known ACM’s, as part of the overall management
plan within the company.
Having only a paper-based report for the
initial surveys, Coca Cola realised the need for a system
to allow periodic and annual updates to a considerable program
and called in PVsurveys to discuss the software solution,
Presumed Asbestos.
Our solution allows a client to continually
update changes to any materials held on the register –
relating to condition or accessibility – to provide
a live report on the status of ACM’s, suspected or known.
Reports are generated to ensure staff and visitors are aware
of any asbestos related risks and even produces a permit to
work for maintenance staff working on or near contaminated
area’s.
Digital images are held within the database
of Presumed Asbestos and are linked to component descriptions
to aid easy identification. A reminder also alerts the client
to certain activities that are programmed or emergency, to
ensure accurate ongoing compliance to health and safety requirements.
The installation of the software at
Coca Cola has helped greatly in reducing the workload faced
by its maintenance and facilities department, and provides
a clear management plan for the whole site.
